Makiievskyi Leads Into Day 8 with 21.045 Million in Chips

Day 7 here at the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event is done and dusted after five two-hour levels of play. The field that began the day was 57 players strong. When play ended for the night, just 22 of them remained. Heading the pack into Day 8 will be Anton Makiievskyi with 21.045 million in chips.

Makiievskyi earned the chip lead thanks to a massive 20MM-chip pot with Christopher Moore. Makiievskyi flopped a full house to Moore's trips before the two began raising back and forth to get all of the money in. When the hand ended, Makiievskyi's boat held strong and he was the 20-million-dollar man. Moore stayed tough and battled through to the end of the day even despite the huge blow he took. He'll be returning for Day 8 with 3.04 million.

On the day, plenty of firepower hit the rail. We lost JP Kelly, Tony Hachem, Andrew Brokos and Sebastian Ruthenberg, the poker couple of David "Doc" Sands and Erika Moutinho, Erick Lindgren and Steve Brecher. EVen though that's a pretty stout list of competitors to hit the rail, the talent still alive is robust. Coming back for Day 8 -- the final day of the summer -- will be Ben Lamb, Lars Bonding, Bryan Devonshire and Phil Colliins to name a few. Also returning is WSOP Circuit National Championship winner Sam Barnhart.

Day 8 begins at 12:00 PM PT just like all of the other days and it's going to be the most exciting day of play we've had thus far. Why? Well, when it's all said and done, the 2011 WSOP November Nine will be set! Who's going to make it? You're just going to have to tune back into PokerNews in order to find out. We'll see you all tomorrow. Until then, goodnight from the Rio.

Mozhnyakov Triple Barrels, Collins Raises Huge on River

• 级别 31: 80,000-160,000, 20,000 ante

Phil Collins opened to 350,000 from middle position, and Aleksandr Mozhnyakov defended his big blind. The flop fell {3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and Mozhnyakov opted to lead out, firing 425,000. Collins tank-called.

The turn was the {q-Hearts}, and Mozhnyakov led again - this time for 650,000. While Collins was in the tank, all the spectators in the room were asked to leave, and many of Collins' railbirds had to be escorted out. They had exited the room long before Collins called, and the river brought the {8-Diamonds}.

Mozhnyakov emptied the chamber, sliding out 1.5 million in lavender T100,000 chips. Collins tanked for nearly four minutes in the silent Amazon Room, then double-fisted 3.7 million forward. Mozhnyakov sat back in his chair. He silently riffled chips for over seven minutes before folding.

Only Collins' wife was present at the time to give him a cheer, but moments later when the news was relayed, a boom of "Yeahps" came funneling into the empty room from the hallway. Collins raked in the massive pot, and we'll have exact counts once the table finishes their remaining three hands.

Last Chance for Action

[user38338] • 级别 31: 80,000-160,000, 20,000 ante

Kind of an interesting final hand over on the outer table between Ryan Lenaghan and Andrey Pateychuk.

Lenaghan raised to 350,000 from the hijack seat, and Pateychuk reraised to 885,000 from one spot over. It folded around and Lenaghan made it 1.925 million to go, then Pateychuk quickly reraised again to 3.45 million, to which Lenaghan promptly folded.

Pateychuk then showed his hand -- {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Lenaghan still had his cards within reach, and so shrugged and showed his hand as well -- {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}!

Andrew Hinrichsen Eliminated in 23rd Place ($302,005)

Andrew Hinrichsen - 23rd place
Andrew Hinrichsen - 23rd place

Huge hand near the end of play on the outer table just now primarily involving Eoghan O'Dea and Andrew Hinrichsen.

It began with Ryan Lenaghan raising to 350,000 from under the gun, then O'Dea calling from the hijack seat. It folded to Hinrichsen who reraised to 900,000 from the small blind, and both the BB and Lenaghan got out. O'Dea then made it 2 million to go, to which Hinrichsen responded with an all-in shove, thereby committing his entire stack of around 8 million total. O'Dea called without hesitation.

O'Dea turned over {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} while Hinrichsen showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The board ran out jack-high and all hearts, coming {J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The big heart in O'Dea's hand meant the enormous pot was his, and Hinrichsen was out in 23rd place.

O'Dea's still stacking that mass of chips, but it looks like he's somewhere in the neighborhood of 19.5 million or so. We're getting close to bagging time, at which point we'll have precise counts for all the remaining players.

Five More

The number has been drawn and the players will be playing five more hands before bagging and tagging.

Collins Takes One

• 级别 31: 80,000-160,000, 20,000 ante

Phil Collins opened to 350,000 from middle position, and Matt Giannetti defended his big blind. The flop fell {4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, Giannetti checked, and Collins continued for 425,000. Giannetti called.

Both players checked the {8-Hearts} on the turn and the {6-Spades} on the river. Giannetti mucked, and Collins rolled over {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a pair of fours.
